Setting up a new Artist’s Studio in my Home, and a sneak peak at my new Sparkly Artwork.
The next installment of my vintage framed sparkle art. The next installment of my life too… freshly 40 years old and suddenly single, looking for a new place to build a home and make some quality nonsense for the good, art-loving people of the world. I am on to my next art adventure!
I didn’t want to take any of this artwork with me - in the music side of my career I get to perform something and leave it all on the stage, I don’t have to carry it around with me, but my paintings are a physical offering to the world that fills up shopping bags, and the space on my shelves, and even the space on my walls. Just like my music it’s meant to be out in the world, not hoarded up in my own personal space. So how could I get rid of all if?? It belongs out there with my art pals!
So I decided to have a “garage sale” but with my art! If my pals were willing to come and pick it up before my move out date, they could have it! I’d give it to them for free and if they felt like feeding that hungry, hungry tip jar, they could. If they were willing to pay for the shipping, they could have it. A once in a lifetime chance to own some of my early work, while also helping me out in my “real life”, outside of just supporting my career. These pals would be doing me a favor by taking this off my hands, and relieving me of the chore of moving it to my new place.
Did my Art Pals want free art?
Yes. I successfully gave away ALL OF IT. Some was donated to local charities and organizations, some even mailed out as far as Toronto! I was surprised but some of my art pals even brought gifts for me! Local beers, things they had made with their hands, and even some b*tchin’ affirmations cards that remind me of my badassery.
It was such a wonderful experience that left me inspired to put more artwork out into the world, and maybe even giveaway something big at the end of the year again… I loved chatting with all of the people and clearing out my space for new creative ideas.
Inspired by my talented friend LeTabby Lexington - local burlesque legend.
What do you think? Should I giveaway something really big at the end of the year EVERY year??
What about the art giveaway - did you get some free art?? Did you give it a good home? Send me pics of my gorgeous artwork out in the wild!!
Let me know what you think of my new art down in the comments, and make some noise if you hate moving as much as I do haha!!!
